Osisko Development drills 13.6 g/t gold at QR mine in British Columbia
Osisko Development (NYSE: ODV, TSXV: ODV) has announced the results of its 2024 initial exploration at the Quesnel River (QR) mine prospect, located within the company’s wider Cariboo gold project in central British Columbia. The 2024 program is designed to validate a historical database comprising over 130,000 metres of past drilling between the late 1970s and 2000s that focused on several distinct localized zones of gold skarns mineralization. From the 13 surface holes drilled at the QR mine area, the most significant assay result was 13.61 grams per tonne gold over 4.15 metres.“Today’s infill results are promising and reinforce the prospectivity of the historic QR mine area, as well as several surrounding skarn and intrusion-related gold targets,” said Chris Lodder, Osisko’s president, in a press release.According to Lodder, this limited drill program aimed to validate historical exploration data from work conducted by previous owners between the 1970s and 2000s, which lacked preserved drill core.“A proposed follow-up targeted geophysical survey — combined with the existing data — will guide the next phase of exploration and target generation on the property,” he said. The QR mine is located approximately 58 km southeast from the city of Quesnel, and approximately 111 km from the Cariboo gold project. It was previously operated by Kinross Gold from 1994 to 1998, after which open pit and underground mining ceased due to low gold prices. At the time of closure, the mines collectively produced a total of 118,004 oz. of gold (1.06 million tonnes at 4.1 g/t gold). In subsequent years, Cross Lake Minerals acquired the property in 2004 and conducted small scale open pit and underground operations.Weiter zum vollständigen Artikel bei Mining.com
