Iowa Interfaith Power & Light Rebrands as Iowa Faith & Climate Network
Unveils Renewed Commitment to Mobilizing Faith Communities with New Mission and Vision
DES MOINES, Iowa, Feb. 26, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Iowa Interfaith Power & Light is excited to announce its rebranding as Iowa Faith & Climate Network, along with a renewed mission and vision that will further its impact and drive positive change in Iowa. The new name will help support the organization's focus to mobilize people of diverse faith and spirituality on climate action.
The decision to rebrand comes after a period of strategic planning and community engagement throughout 2024 where the organization carefully considered how it could best serve the evolving needs of climate action in Iowa. The new name emphasizes the organization's role in building, supporting and strengthening a connected network of faith communities dedicated to addressing the challenges of climate change together.
"Faith communities provide hope, support, and a sense of connection for many. They are the heart of many Iowa communities. By shifting our focus back on faith leaders and congregations, we can engage a broader audience in the climate conversation, mobilizing people of all backgrounds to take action and build a more sustainable future together," said Deaconess Irene DeMaris, Executive Director of Iowa Faith & Climate Network. "After months of strategic planning in the fall, we are proud to announce our new name Iowa Faith & Climate Network because it is clear, straightforward, communicates exactly what we do and reflects our mission to mobilize people of diverse faith and spirituality to act on climate. Our new vision and mission will faithfully guide us in creating lasting, positive change."
New mission statement: Iowa Faith & Climate Network nurtures environmental leadership by equipping individuals and communities with resources to take climate action.

"The work of the Iowa Faith & Climate Network has never been more urgent," said Rob Hogg, Board Chair. "Our new name, mission, and vision provide a clear blueprint for the future, and we invite Iowans to join us in building a more just and sustainable future for all."
The organization will celebrate the new name and mission as part of its upcoming Called to Climate Action conference, March 29, at Grinnell College.
In addition to the core programs and services that will continue under the new name, Iowa Faith & Climate Network is excited to announce the launch of Climate-informed Ministry Cohorts. This community-focused learning experience in faith and climate for clergy will begin accepting applications in February, and the cohort programming will begin in the fall. The new program will help clergy become leaders in environmental stewardship through mentorship, training, and connections with other faith leaders. The experience and knowledge gained will provide tools for faith leaders to take climate-conscious practices and resilience to their church and ministries.
