MANHATTAN, Kan., March 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Kansas State Athletics has made the decision to replace their playing surface with Hellas' Matrix Helix® turf system at Bill Snyder Family Stadium and their practice facilities.
"Our team has played on a Hellas surface several times and the fields were top-notch." K-State Head Coach Chris Klieman"Hellas' Matrix Helix turf system is trusted at every level of football because it provides the best traction and playability for athletes," said Jeff N. Smith, President of Hellas. "We are excited to begin this new partnership with K-State and honored to be selected for this project. Why Matrix Helix Turf?
Kansas State's new Matrix Helix turf system will feature:
"Our team has played on a Hellas surface several times – at the 2022 Big 12 Championship in Arlington at AT&T Stadium and the 2021 Texas Bowl in Houston at NRG," said K-State Head Coach Chris Klieman. "The fields were top-notch, and I know our players and staff will see the benefits from this new surface."
The Matrix Helix monofilament system is engineered for performance, durability, and safety. Monofilament fibers maintain their integrity for a more consistent, high-quality playing experience. The Helix technology creates a more realistic ball roll, improved foot control, and better energy restitution, helping athletes perform at their best while reducing injury risks. Hellas' Matrix Helix turf is the preferred synthetic turf system of 14 NFL teams, including the Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys, Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans, and Los Angeles Rams. With more NFL facilities featuring Matrix Helix turf than any other synthetic system, K-State is aligning with the highest standards of professional football.
"As a K-State alumna, this project is especially meaningful to me," said Michelle Kuhns, Regional Vice President for Hellas' Central Region. "I'm thrilled to see the Wildcats join Texas Tech as Big 12 programs that have chosen Matrix Helix turf. We're excited to bring our flagship system to Manhattan." With installation scheduled for completion ahead of the 2025 season, the Wildcats will take the field on a turf system designed for durability, safety, and game-day performance for years to come.
