Honoring the 60th Anniversary of the Selma to Montgomery Marches, Martin Luther King III, Arndrea Waters King and Yolanda Renee King Continue the Legacy of Service and Social Change

ATLANTA, April 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- In a powerful demonstration of unity and commitment to service, Realize the Dream (RTD) proudly announces its corporate and philanthropic partners ahead of an immersive journey to Selma and Montgomery. While the trip commemorates the past, marking the 60th anniversary of the historic Selma to Montgomery marches to advance voting rights for every citizen of these United States, it also represents a renewed call to service, unity and commitment to systemic change. The support of our partners strengthens this journey, ensuring that Dr. King's legacy continues through collective action to drive meaningful impact. As Dr. King often said, "Everyone can be great because everyone can serve."

This historic initiative is made possible through the generous support of a wide coalition of partners committed to advancing a vision of the Legacy of Service. Presented by Allstate, DoorDash, TheClorox Brand and Stand Together Foundation, RTD is further supported by NBA Cares, NFL Inspire Change and Scholastic. Additionally, Chegg,iHeartMedia, Snapchat and WPP, are amplifying the movement, ensuring that the message of service and justice reaches communities nationwide. Together, these organizations represent a growing movement dedicated to service, justice, and lasting change, each contributing uniquely to advance the mission of Realize the Dream.

"Sixty years ago, my father and countless others marched for justice, equity, and the right to vote," said Martin Luther King III. "As we honor their sacrifices, we must also commit to action. Realize the Dream is about ensuring that their legacy lives on—not just in words, but in meaningful service to spur systemic change. With the support of our partners, we are building a movement that will continue the vital work they started."

"I see this journey not only as a moment of remembrance but also as a call to action," said Arndrea Waters King. "This work is about building a community rooted in justice, love, and equity. With our incredible partners' support, this effort ensures that the next generation continues this critical mission."

"My grandfather and grandmother, Coretta Scott King, envisioned a better future for all centered around hope and fairness," said Yolanda Renee King. "It's up to my generation to make sure that their dream is realized, and that we turn words into action. We can all work together to serve our communities and it will help us to get to know each other when we work together so that we are stronger in our pursuit of justice. I'm proud to be part of Realize the Dream, and with the support of our partners, we will continue advancing my grandparents' vision of the Beloved Community."

Since its launch in January 2024, Realize the Dream has made significant strides in advancing service and action across the U.S. Through its three pillars—Community Service, Movement Building, and Connections & Engagement—the initiative has reached over 2 million educators with curricular resources, awarded youth service grants in 30+ states, and established a National U.S. Youth Council to drive grassroots impact. Additionally, the first MLK III Service Student Cohort has completed over 25,000 hours of community service, reinforcing the movement's commitment to empowering future leaders.

Realize the Dream was founded by Martin Luther King III, Arndrea Waters King and their daughter, Yolanda Renee King, with a five-year goal of creating 100 million hours of service by what would have been Dr. King's 100th birthday in 2029. Realize the Dream is a collaboration between the Martin Luther King III Foundation and Legacy+.
