Real-time Labor Mapping via Next Generation Residential Construction Solution
Zonda team gives sneak peek of innovation in advance of International Builders' Show
"…resolving the U.S. labor supply issue is of utmost importance to help keep home building costs down and to produce homes at a quick enough pace to keep up with demand." — Ali Wolf, chief economist for Zonda
LAS VEGAS, Feb. 24, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Even in a housing crisis, labor uncertainty is one of the toughest challenges to tackle in residential construction. Today, Zonda's team previewed a real-time discovery tool that syncs with manufacturing supply chains, which will help deliver more quality housing completions in record time. The soon-to-be launched innovation:
- Pinpoints labor availability and usage for builders by region, offering competitive intelligence into trades usage by other builders;
- Offers building product manufacturers (BPMs) wallet share of builder market by region and insights into laborers doing the install work; and,
- Similarly provides the trades with wallet share of the builder market by regions, along with competitive analysis against other trades.
"We're all aware that today's tech and data ecosystem isn't conducive to transparency — to help BPMs, builders, and the trades know where the labor is tight, what my market penetration is, and who is winning the install work," says Jeff Meyers, CEO at Zonda. "The broad reach of our business and the increasing number of touchpoints Zonda has within the industry allows us to do just that. Beyond some futuristic idea, we have the pipeline in beta right now."
That pipeline was built by Doug Headywho recently joined Zonda.
Heady's background — the intersection of economics and data science — has helped him provide solutions to challenges like economic damages for litigation and modeling marketing program efficiency. Heady's aim now: improve labor transparency in residential construction.
"I'm thrilled at the opportunity to flip the way we view problems in residential building — from the broken conventional bottom-up approach, to one that's top-down," says Doug Heady, SVP at Zonda. "By lifting the covers off the hidden labor market, we're able to help builders become more efficient, allow BPMs to get more competitive and drive down prices, while allowing the trades to find their next growth opportunity."
Zonda's next generation data solution will be accessible to current clients by early summer. zondahome.com/products
