Purina Providing $200,000 in Pet Food Donations to Support Communities Impacted by Flooding in Kentucky, West Virginia and Virginia
ST. LOUIS, March 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to the flooding that has impacted areas of eastern Kentucky, southern West Virginia and western Virginia, Purina is partnering with Greater Good Charities, a global nonprofit, to support pets and people in need. The historic flooding, which has been ongoing for several weeks, has left many residents without power or heat, and has claimed at least 22 lives to date.
Purina is contributing to the emergency relief efforts by donating more than 80 tons of Purina dog and cat food – valued at over $200,000 – from its US-based manufacturing facilities in Clinton and Davenport, IA, Dunkirk, NY, and Mechanicsburg, PA. The donation will be shared with area pet welfare organizations that are caring for displaced pets and will help alleviate the strain on affected families who own pets.
"Our hearts go out to the communities affected by the devastating floods," said Kim Beardslee, Director of Community Affairs. "Purina has a long history of supporting people and pets in the wake of natural disasters, and we're proud to continue our partnership with Greater Good Charities to support their life-saving work."
Purina's donation is part of its broader commitment to supporting people and pets in the wake of natural disasters. Through its partnership with Greater Good Charities, Purina continues to deliver timely aid to areas impacted by crises, ensuring that pets and their families receive the resources they need to recover.
