"Recognition by Fast Company as one of the World's Most Innovative Companies is an incredible honor. We know what we are doing at P2 Science is special; we hear it from our customers and partners around the world on a regular basis. The opportunity to share P2's mission, to reinvent the material economy using green chemistry, on this platform is incredible," said P2 CEO Oihana Elizalde.  She added, "none of this would be possible without our innovative and hardworking team in Connecticut and throughout the U.S., our investors who share our vision and have supported us through it all, and our many partners across industries."

Using the 12 Principles of Green Chemistry as its foundation, P2 invents new-to-the-world chemical transformation technologies and novel products inspired by nature's chemistry, utilizing abundant renewable materials as feedstocks.  P2's approach aims to detoxify, defossilize, and decarbonize ingredients and materials that consumers interact with daily.

The manufacturing process for P2's Citropol® ingredients for beauty and personal care is truly unique.  P2's patented PICE® (Process Intensified Continuous Etherification) reactors at their manufacturing site in Naugatuck, Connecticut exist nowhere else in the world and are designed specifically to achieve next-level innovations with plant-based raw materials.  While most of the chemical industry is considered highly capital intensive, the PICE reactor is designed for cost and energy efficiency, modularity, and hyper-scalability.

In September 2024, P2 launched a new globally compliant high molecular weight liquid polymer for cosmetics and personal care, Citropol® DE-4 (INCI: Bis-Polycitronellyl Succinate).  The only molecule of its kind in the market today, Citropol® DE-4 outperforms heavy silicones or ethoxylated esters, and offers a renewable, non-petrochemical, and palm-free alternative to beauty brands and consumers. It is derived from upcycled terpenes extracted from responsibly managed forests as a side stream of the pulp and paper industry. Citropol® DE-4 is USDA certified biobased, 96% natural origin (ISO 16128), and inherently biodegradable.

P2 Co-Founder and President Patrick Foley, PhD, added, "Since the beginning of P2, we knew we were breaking new ground. We are fundamentally rethinking the chemical enterprise, designing new molecules from nature with their entire life cycle in mind and developing completely novel production processes. Being named one of the World's Most Innovative Companies is a very proud moment for me and the entire team.  We have overcome many obstacles since our founding in 2012 and we are thrilled with the commercial momentum we have today. Thank you to Fast Company, to our many partners and mentors, and to the entire P2 team for your hard work and dedication."

The World's Most Innovative Companies stands as Fast Company's hallmark franchise and one of its most anticipated editorial efforts of the year. To determine honorees, Fast Company's editors and writers review companies driving progress around the world and across industries, evaluating thousands of submissions through a competitive application process. The result is a globe-spanning guide to innovation today, from early-stage startups to some of the most valuable companies in the world.

"Our list of the Most Innovative Companies offers both a comprehensive look at innovation today and a playbook for the future," said Fast Company editor-in-chief Brendan Vaughan. "This year, we recognize companies that are harnessing AI in deep and meaningful ways, brands that are turning customers into superfans by overdelivering for them, and challengers that are introducing bold ideas and vital competition to their industries. At a time when the world is rapidly shifting, these companies are charting the way forward."

The full list of Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies honorees can now be found at fastcompany.com. It will also be available on newsstands beginning March 25.

Fast Company will host the Most Innovative Companies Summit and Gala for honorees on June 5. The summit features a day of inspiring content, followed by a creative black-tie gala including networking, a seated dinner, and an honoree presentation.
