Innovative Featherlite Model 4410 car hauler draws inspiration from Featherlite NASCAR transporters
CRESCO, Iowa, Feb. 13, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- For many in the NASCAR® industry, Featherlite is known for their 53 ft. race car transporters, or haulers, which teams use to cross the country each week from speedway to speedway. And it is those transporters that have served as inspiration for Featherlite Trailers in the development of their latest product – the Model 4410 car hauler.
Featherlite Model 4410 represents a continued advancement in innovative car hauler design for the trailer industry.Featherlite Trailers has been designing and manufacturing aluminum trailers for over 50 years, but its legacy and experience in the race and car industries accelerated in the early 1990s, when Featherlite built its first race car transporter for owner Richard Childress and the late Dale Earnhardt.
Since then, Featherlite has gone on to build hundreds of race car transporters, along with other specialty trailers, including office, event marketing, hospitality and vending trailers for teams, officials and others within the NASCAR world.
Featherlite's lineup of trailers has also always included gooseneck and bumper pull car haulers as well. But its newest trailer, the Model 4410, represents a continued advancement in innovative car hauler design for the company and the trailer industry.
Inspired by the design of Featherlite's 53 ft. NASCAR spread axle transporters, the Model 4410 also features a similar spread axle design with fenderettes and a smooth bottom trim. In addition to the aesthetics of them, the fenderettes are designed to allow more airflow and cooling in the tire/brake area and more durability overall in the unfortunate event of a tire blow out.
Model 4410's sleek design is also centered around Featherlite's patent pending smooth rivetless side sheet design.
"Featherlite's engineering and manufacturing team collaborated to create a new process by which the side sheets can be applied without rivets and overall create a smoother, more seamless looking exterior to the trailer," Mark Chichester, Featherlite Product Specialist, said. "This joggled side sheet design created by Featherlite allows for a fully flush exterior side that does not require caulking at the top and bottom rails like other manufacturers do. Again, this is one more way Model 4410's construction was modeled after how we build our NASCAR transporters."
The Model 4410 was first introduced to Featherlite dealers and customers a few years ago, but the Featherlite team has been continuing to refine its design, features and options to what it is today.
"The car hauler industry was changing, and the demand for this design style was growing," Chichester said. "We knew that the quality and experience of our team would lend itself to being able to produce a trailer in this design but with the Featherlite fit and finish that car and race enthusiasts have experienced for many years."
According to Chichester, one way Featherlite's construction differs from competitors is in its roof construction, known as the Pierce & Roll System. "With this manufacturing, high strength rivets go into the aluminum, but no hole fully pierces the roof's skin," Chichester said. "Instead, a secure, water-resistant crown forms up and around the bottom of every rivet, reducing opportunities for water leakage, all while not requiring caulking that other trailer manufacturers will often use."
Popular options with the Model 4410 include the premium escape door, which features a removable inner fender and built in step. This option makes it more convenient to get in and out of the vehicle when loaded in the trailer. The escape door, along with the trailer's standard heavy-duty 2" curbside door, are both built in-house at Featherlite and are double-sealed, similar to Featherlite's transporter design.
In addition, many trailer owners opt for cabinets in the interior of their trailer. These cabinets are constructed in house by the Featherlite team, which is the same team that builds all the cabinets inside NASCAR and other specialty transporters the company manufactures.
"Car enthusiasts overall so far have appreciated not only the Featherlite quality and durability but the added value, along with our industry-leading 10-year structural warranty, with the Model 4410," Justin Queensland, President of Featherlite Trailers, said. "The rivetless side design is also a first in the industry, and it's Featherlite's goal to continue to take the lead when it comes to this product."
In its effort to continue to offer more value to owners, Featherlite recently announced a transition to thicker .050 side sheets in lieu of its traditional .040 side sheets.
"Our team's focus is to continue to innovate when it comes to our car haulers," Queensland said. "Looking ahead, we have plans to evolve this design into a stacker and gooseneck model of this trailer as well."
A few of the other specifics with the Featherlite Model 4410 include:
- Available lengths of 20', 24', 28' or triple axle 32' model
- 7', 7'6" or 8' height
- 8'6" width
- Rear spoiler with load light
- Standard 16" ramp extension
Featherlite recently collaborated with NASCAR Cup Series driver Daniel Suárez on a new Model 4410 for his personal use for hauling cars and other cargo. Among the options he chose were the race ramps, cabinets with Featherlite's new 5 drawer toolbox, lining with black coping, electric tongue jack and a front tire enclosure, among others.
"This has been a great trailer for me, and the black with smooth sides looks amazing," Suárez said. "I love how low the trailer is especially in the back for lowered cars, and also I love the aluminum factor to save weight. For being a big trailer, it is very light and comfortable to drive."
Featherlite Model 4410 is available from one of Featherlite's 100 dealers across the U.S. and Canada. For more information on Featherlite trailers or to locate a dealer, visit www.fthr.com or call 800-800-1230.
