Celebrating the Best Food and Drink Experiences in the U.S. and Around the World—From Cities and Restaurants to Hotels, Bars, Airports, Cruises, and More

NEW YORK, April 2, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Food & Wine unveils the winners of its 2025 Global Tastemakers Awards, celebrating the most unforgettable food and drink experiences across the U.S. and around the world. Now in its third year, this annual list spotlights the top 165 culinary destinations, from restaurants and bars to cities, hotels, cruises, airlines, and airports. More than a collection of recommendations, this is a curated best-of list celebrating culture, cuisines, and culinary experiences rooted in a real sense of place. The honorees were selected based on a global poll of 400 chefs, travel experts, writers, and wine pros, with final rankings determined by Food & Wine editors and our Global Advisory Board. The complete list of winners and award methodology are available at foodandwine.com/globaltastemakers, with highlights featured in the May issue of Food & Wine, on newsstands April 18.

Food & Wine's 2025 Global Tastemakers Awards

"Each winner embodies what we at Food & Wine savor about travel: a connection to culture and community; abundant, delicious, and mind-expanding experiences; and a taste of something real," said Hunter Lewis, Food & Wine VP/Editor in Chief. "This year's list is designed for travelers, not tourists—for people who want to understand what makes a place tick, one unforgettable bite or sip at a time."

This year's Global Tastemakers winners reflect a shift toward more casual, culturally rooted dining experiences. New York City tops the list for a second year as Best U.S. City for Food & Drink, thanks to its fearless culinary creativity and nonstop energy, while Burdell in Oakland earned Best U.S. Restaurant for its soulful, retro-inspired take on California cuisine. Internationally, Bangkok* made its debut as the Best International City for Food & Drink—a tribute to the city's resilience and enduring culinary spirit. The Best International Restaurants list favored flavor and soul over fine dining, from a curry shop in Bangkok to a tortilleria in Mexico City—topped by Asador Etxebarri, a live-fire Basque restaurant in a humble 30-year-old stone farmhouse. Charleston, Miami, and Austin earned spots on the U.S. Best Cities list, proving culinary excellence extends beyond bigger metropolises, while top hotels like Tennessee's Blackberry Farm and rising coffee scenes in Miamiand San Juan, Puerto Rico, also received recognition.

Food & Wine editors introduced the 2025 Global Tastemakers awards on foodandwine.com, writing: "Our Global Tastemakers list is a passport to the most exciting food destinations around the world. Whether you're planning a trip or just dreaming of one, these winners offer a true sense of discovery, a real taste of place, and a deep connection to culture through food."
