NEW YORK, March 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Exodus Adventure Travels, the leading international adventure travel company, has been named a recipient of Travel + Leisure's 2025 Global Vision Award for its ongoing commitment to responsible travel.  With a focus on creating meaningful connections between travelers and the world, Exodus continues to set the standard for responsible tourism by offering immersive small-group adventures that support local communities, wildlife conservation, and cultural preservation.

Through the work of the Exodus Adventure Travels Foundation, the company supports under-represented and disadvantaged communities through tourism initiatives. A few of these programs include Exodus’ Mountain Lioness Project in Tanzania, which has supported 30 pioneering female porters to become mountain guides on Kilimanjaro.

As a certified B Corporation (B Corp), Exodus Adventure Travels is committed to its "Thriving Nature, Thriving People" plan, which supports conservation initiatives driven by local communities for lasting and positive impact. Recognized for its trailblazing Mountain Lioness Scholarship Program and Citizen Science Departures, Exodus Adventure Travels demonstrates its commitment to responsible tourism, uplifting local communities, and gender equity through these initiatives.

Launched in 2020 by the Exodus Adventure Travels Foundation in partnership with the Robertson Outdoor Bursary, the Mountain Lioness Scholarship Program employs and empowers women in Tanzania with the training and qualifications needed to become certified mountain guides on Kilimanjaro. The program is inspired by Lucia Kivoi, a pioneering female guide whose perseverance helped pave the way for women in the guiding industry. Through an intensive three-week training program, participants gain essential skills in First Aid, Wilderness Rescue, Mountain Ecology, and Guiding Techniques, ultimately earning their official Guide License. In 2024, the program celebrated a major milestone with 30 graduates and has committed to training five additional women annually for the next three years, fostering long-term change in the guiding industry and local communities. Travelers on all of Exodus' 2025 Mount Kilimanjaro Tours can experience the program firsthand, with trained Mountain Lioness guides on all departures.

A first of its kind program, travelers with Exodus' Citizen Science Departures may participate in collecting vital biodiversity data, contributing to global conservation efforts. Exodus Adventure Travels has partnered with NatureMetrics and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to support the eBioAtlas initiative—a global effort to map species worldwide using innovative eDNA technology. Through Citizen Science Departures, travelers with Exodus have the unique opportunity to participate in conservation efforts by collecting eDNA samples on selected adventures. These samples contribute to the eBioAtlas, aiding global biodiversity policy and species protection efforts. Once analyzed, guests receive a report detailing the conservation insights generated from their contributions.

"We are honored to be recognized by Travel + Leisure's Global Vision Awards," said Kasia Morgan, Head of Sustainability at Exodus Adventure Travels. "At Exodus, we believe in the power of travel to drive positive impact, and the Citizen Science Departures and Mountain Lioness Scholarship are a testament to that mission – breaking down barriers, supporting the environment, and ensuring a more inclusive future for adventure tourism."

Each year, Travel + Leisure's Global Vision Awards celebrate individuals, organizations, and destinations pioneering sustainability and responsible travel. The 2025 winners represent 25 outstanding initiatives that are making a tangible impact on the future of travel. The full list of this year's honorees will be featured in the April 2025 issue of Travel + Leisure and online at Travel + Leisure Global Vision Awards
