NEW YORK, March 10, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Persistent Systems, LLC ("Persistent"), a leader in mobile ad hoc networking (MANET) technology, announced today that it has secured contracts totaling $29 million to supply MPU5 handheld Wave Relay® MANET networking devices and tower-mounted Integrated Antenna Solutions to multiple Baltic Sea states.

Baltic Sea Nations award Persistent Systems $29 million in contracts to enhance maritime security

This large-scale initiative will readily enable the establishment of a unified Wave Relay® network, seamlessly connecting naval vessels, aircraft, ground forces, coastal security teams, and mobile operations centers across a 2,500-mile stretch of the Baltic Sea coastal zone. The network will provide real-time, secure communication and data sharing, empowering participating nations to collaborate effectively and respond swiftly to potential threats.

"Interoperability in the Baltic Sea has long been a challenge to NATO integrated readiness," said Tom Hanlon, Director of Business Development for Persistent Systems. "Existing communications systems lack the bandwidth for advanced maritime awareness, are vulnerable to disruptions, and struggle to integrate with unmanned platforms. Persistent's robust and high-throughput MANET solves these challenges and allows for network federation between nations."

Powered by Persistent's MPU5 networking device, the Wave Relay® MANET enables peer-to-peer sharing of voice, video, text, sensor, and GPS data in real-time, even in complex and contested environments. The system's self-forming, self-healing capabilities ensure continuous connectivity, delivering unparalleled situational awareness and operational efficiency.

To extend network coverage across maritime and coastal zones, the initiative will deploy tower-mounted Integrated Antenna Solutions, mirroring Persistent's Infrastructure-based Regional Operation Network (IRON), currently providing coverage of 25,000 square miles in North America for the U.S. Air Force.

"This network represents a groundbreaking leap forward for the Baltic Sea Region," Hanlon added. "It is the first of its kind in Europe at this scale and will provide NATO mission partners with an unprecedented level of connectivity, coordination, and situational awareness."
