Accelerated Cure Project Launches AI Caregiving Expert: A 24/7 Resource for Care Partners of People with MS
WALTHAM, Mass., March 12, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- People who are caring for loved ones with multiple sclerosis (MS) now have an additional resource to answer their questions at any time. In addition to carefully curated resources and information, the MS Care Partner Connection website features its own Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbot, the AI Caregiving Expert, that's programmed to search for useful and reliable answers.
"The AI Caregiving Expert gives MS caregivers a guide to help them find answers to their questions, whenever they need them," says Jon Strum, host of the RealTalk MS podcast and co-leader of the Care Partner Advisory Board developed and customized the service using Open AI's ChatGPT. "Not only does it provide very accurate, actionable information, but it does so in a supportive way. It uses language that is exactly the kind of empathetic conversation a care partner would want."
The new website, MSCarePartnerConnection.com, was launched by Accelerated Cure Project (ACP) for Multiple Sclerosis (MS), with support from EMD Serono's Embracing Carers initiative. Visitors to the site will find links to fundamental information about MS, guidance on navigating the healthcare and insurance systems, dealing with employers, managing finances, and maintaining healthy relationships. These resources can help care partners find answers to questions and link them to support groups and advisors for the help they need. The AI Caregiving Expert is a complementary feature that visitors can use for questions that aren't covered and professional advice that isn't available when they need it.
"As we're learning with any AI application, the more specific your question, the better the answer is going to be," Strum says. "That's what is great about this kind of tool. You can refine your questions, and it becomes a dialogue."
For people who don't have access in their community to available or affordable experts in MS, emotional support, or financial advising, the AI Caregiving Expert can fill an important gap. And for those who do have support, it can suggest options that users can bring to their counselor or advisor to discuss.
"We never imagined it to be a replacement for talking with a professional, but when you are a care partner who is up at one o'clock in the morning because you need to figure something out, that's not necessarily a time when you're going to reach a professional," Strum adds. "The AI Caregiving Expert is available around the clock, it's never out-of-network, you can ask as many questions as you want, and you'll get an instant response."
