20 Schools Hold Dual Distinction as National Blue Ribbon Schools and Model PLC at WorkⓇ
BLOOMINGTON, Ind., March 13, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Each year, the U.S. Department of Education works with state departments of education to identify and nominate outstanding public and non-public elementary, middle, and high schools based on their overall high academic achievement or success in closing the achievement gaps among student groups. Those schools are recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools, and 20 of them now hold dual recognition as Solution Tree Model PLC at WorkⓇ schools as well.
What is a Model PLC at WorkⓇ?
To become a Model PLC at Work, a school or district must increase student achievement through the implementation of the Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) at Work process.
Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) at Work are schools or districts that empower educators to work collaboratively in recurring cycles of collective inquiry and action research to achieve better results for the students they serve.
At the heart of the PLC at Work process are four critical questions that drive the daily actions of every team member:
- What is it we want our students to know and be able to do?
- How will we know if each student has learned it?
- How will we respond when some students do not learn it?
- How will we extend the learning for students who have demonstrated proficiency?
Model PLCs at Work must demonstrate clear evidence of improved teaching practices and student learning in main content areas over three consecutive years. Through the Model PLC at Work process, schools and districts focus on collaboration, data-driven decision making, and continuous professional development to ensure that every student learns at high levels.
Schools recognized as both Model PLC at Work and National Blue Ribbon Schools represent the pinnacle of educational excellence. These institutions have gone above and beyond in their efforts to foster a culture of high performance, collaboration, and growth. By adopting the PLC at Work process and seeking Blue Ribbon recognition, these schools have set the standard for other educational institutions nationwide.
"We are incredibly proud of the schools that have earned both of these prestigious honors," said Jeff Jones, CEO of Solution Tree. "This achievement underscores the dedication of educators who are committed to improving student outcomes, closing achievement gaps, and building strong and sustainable collaborative learning communities."
