USPTO Patent Trial and Appeal Board Confirms Patentability of Intirion's MicroFridge® Appliance, a division of Danby Appliances Co.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass., April 14, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Yesterday, the United States Patent and Trademark Office's Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) upheld the patentability of Intirion's innovative MicroFridge® combination appliance. U.S. Patent No. 11,674,745 was confirmed in its entirety. In addition, all claims of U.S. Patent No. 11,674,746 covering Intirion's combination microwave and refrigerator unit featuring integrated smoke sensor and power management technology were also confirmed as patentable.

MicroFridge® 1st defense Smoke Sensor™ and Safe-Plug™ technology has been patented.

The PTAB's decision follows Post-Grant Review proceedings initiated by College Products, which challenged the validity of both patents. The PTAB rejected those challenges as applied to Intirion's combination microwave and refrigerator unit featuring integrated smoke sensor and patented power management technology.
