TURFAN, China, March 20, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- As temperatures gradually rise, the 630,000 mu of grapes in Turfan have entered the golden period for spring irrigation. On March 20, staff from the State Grid Turfan Power Supply Company visited the ten-thousand-mu grape planting base located beneath the Flaming Mountain in Turfan to assist farmers in inspecting electrical equipment such as electric wells and deliver "energy water" to ensure the sprouting of grape buds.

Turfan is known as China's "Grape Homeland," accounting for approximately one-fifth of the nation's total grape production. However, its extremely arid climate, with an average annual rainfall of only 16 mm, makes mechanical well irrigation a critical factor influencing harvests. During the "opening season," farmers must simultaneously activate electric wells to provide the "first crop water," which directly impacts the year's yield.

To ensure the safe and stable electricity supply required for mechanical well irrigation, since 2024, the State Grid Turfan Power Supply Company has continuously promoted the transformation and upgrading of rural power grids. It has invested in 160 agricultural distribution network transformation projects, with a total investment exceeding 3 billion yuan, constructing and renovating 587.18 kilometers of agricultural distribution network lines. This initiative provides a robust power guarantee for the high yield and income of the Turfan grape industry.

With reliable power supply, Turfan's grape production has steadily increased. In 2024, the region produced over 1.5 million tons of grapes, generating sales revenue of 4.593 billion yuan from table grapes and raisins. This success has made Turfan the first national green food (high-quality agricultural products) pilot zone in Xinjiang, demonstrating both quality and efficiency.
