WOODBURY, Minn., March 12, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Summit Orthopedics has been recognized by the Joint Commission as Disease Specific Certified in Arthroplasty (Shoulder Joint Replacement). Summit Orthopedics is the first freestanding ambulatory surgery center in the U.S. to have the designation. Only four other organizations carry this certification, but none are freestanding ASCs.
This certification is the latest in several other Joint Commission certifications Summit Orthopedics has earned, including Certified in Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement earned in 2017 and Certified in Spine Fusion in 2018. Summit Orthopedics is the first freestanding ASC in the country to receive all three designations.
Certification requirements include service to a minimum of 200 patients, use of standardized clinical care delivery based on evidence-based care and clinical practice guidelines, data collection and performance measurement, participation in the American Spine Registry, a collaborative effort of the American Association of the Neurological Surgeons (AANS) and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS).
"This prestigious recognition exemplifies our unwavering commitment to the highest standards of patient safety, exceptional surgical care and excellence in shoulder surgery," said Beckie Hines, COO at Summit Orthopedics. "It reinforces our dedication to innovation, quality and ensuring the best possible outcomes for our patients."
