St. Margaret's School Claims VISAA Division III State Basketball Championship

TAPPAHANNOCK, Va., March 17, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- St. Margaret's School proudly celebrates its Varsity Girls Basketball team for capturing the VISAA Division III State Championship title with a thrilling 49-46 victory over Carlisle High School on March 1, 2025. The Scotties' triumph marks a historic achievement for the program, solidifying their place as one of the top teams in the state.
Under the exceptional leadership of Coach Cornelius Snead, the team demonstrated determination, skill, and teamwork throughout the season. Coach Snead's dedication and strategic guidance earned him the prestigious VISAA Division III Coach of the Year and LIS Coach of the Year honors, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the success of the team and the development of student-athletes.
Leading the charge on the court was Paula Carillo, who was named VISAA Division III Player of the Year and selected to the LIS First Team. Carillo's dynamic presence, leadership, and ability to perform in clutch moments were instrumental in securing the championship.
Additionally, Jade Wright was recognized for her stellar performance throughout the season, earning spots on both the VISAA Division III First Team and the LIS First Team. Her defensive intensity and offensive versatility made her a key asset for the Scotties.
Karla Barreno also received top honors, being named to the VISAA Division III First Team. Her contributions on both ends of the court played a crucial role in the team's success.
