REI's Annual Veer Bhartiya Team Impact Awards Ceremony Recognizes REI Teams and Their Work Supporting Federal Agencies

Finalists:

• GSA Personal Property Management System (PPMS): Maximizing Asset Reuse and Community Impact – In FY'24, $26.9 million worth of computers was donated to public schools through the Computers for Learning program, extending the lifecycle of essential technology and helping schools optimize their budgets. This initiative was part of a broader $1 billion effort through which PPMS facilitated the transfer, donation, and sale of excess federal property. In turn, the team reduced waste, upcycled valuable assets, and reinvested resources that may have otherwise been discarded.
• GSA TBMO PMO and the IT Vendor Management Office (ITVMO): Optimizing IT Procurement – Through a Financial Operations (FinOps) framework, this project helped agencies avoid $15.3 million in costs by optimizing cloud storage, adjusting retention policies, and rightsizing computing resources. Additionally, it achieved $11.3 million in savings through negotiated vendor discounts under the Department of Defense's JWCC contract, improving IT procurement efficiency and reducing unnecessary expenditures.
• NASA Platform Engineering and Technology Services (PETS): Accelerating Innovation for Small Businesses –REI helped NASA achieve $1.9 million in annual cost savings through improved proposal processing, ensuring greater efficiency in NASA's small business innovation initiatives. By streamlining workflows and reducing manual inefficiencies, PETS enables small businesses to bring forward innovations faster, supporting NASA's mission with cutting-edge technology.

Winner – 2024 Veer Bhartiya Team Impact Award

• DHS FEMA Data Exchange (FEMADex): Enhancing Emergency Response – Named the 2024 Veer Bhartiya Team Impact Award winner, REI helped build the FEMA Data Exchange to revolutionize emergency response by enabling secure, real-time data sharing and advanced analytics. The cloud-based platform improves FEMA's ability to track, analyze, and distribute disaster relief resources more efficiently while reducing fraud, waste, and abuse. For example, during the 2024 hurricane season, this system helped reduce response times by 90%, accelerating the delivery of critical resources to affected communities in the Southeast U.S.
