Stonington Vineyards, a founding member of the Connecticut Wine Trail, is best known for its barrel fermented Chardonnay and its proprietary blends: Seaport White and Triad Rose. The winery, which was opened in 1987, produces 6,000-7,000 cases of wine per year, selling about 90% of its production in an on-premise tasting room and the remainder to restaurants and shops throughout Connecticut and Rhode Island.

After Nick and Happy Smith — Stonington's founders — both passed away in recent years, the Stonington team recognized an opportunity to carry the vineyard into its next chapter.

The buyers, a local family group who have frequented Stonington throughout the past decade, are eager to make their vision of owning a vineyard a reality. With deep respect for the legacy built over the past 40 years, they are committed to preserving the winery's rich heritage while introducing fresh, new experiences.
