Obesity Action Coalition Launches "Imagine a World Without Weight Stigma" Creative Contest Honoring 20th Anniversary
TAMPA, Fla., March 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- To commemorate its 20th Anniversary in 2025, the Obesity Action Coalition (OAC) is excited to announce the launch of the "Imagine a World Without Weight Stigma" Creative Contest. The contest invites individuals to share their creative visions for a future free from weight bias and stigma.
Throughout the last two decades, OAC has been at the forefront of raising awareness about obesity, challenging misconceptions and advocating for better access to care. As the organization celebrates its 20-year milestone, it is focusing on the future it is working toward—a world where weight stigma is eliminated from healthcare, media, schools, workplaces and families.
"We launched this Creative Contest to provide individuals with an opportunity to express themselves and contribute to OAC's mission through their work," said Joe Nadglowski, OAC President and CEO. "We want to hear from diverse voices and help bring this important message to life as we celebrate our 20th year of fighting for a better future for people affected by obesity."
Contest entries will be accepted through May 27, 2025, in various formats, including visual art, essays, poetry and prose. Selected entries will be showcased at OAC's 2025 Your Weight Matters National Convention in Washington, DC, July 24-26, with additional opportunities for recognition and exposure.
Prizes Include:
- 1st Place: $500 Grand Prize, trip to OAC's National Convention (airfare, hotel, registration), and year-round recognition opportunities
- 2nd Place and 3rd Place: Trip to OAC's National Convention (airfare, hotel, registration), with year-round recognition opportunities
Other selected works may be featured during OAC's 20th Anniversary celebrations, including digital and social media galleries, advocacy campaigns and special edition merchandise.
