NYSE, Nasdaq to close Jan. 9 for national day of mourning following death of Jimmy Carter

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the Nasdaq will participate in the national day of mourning for the late President Jimmy Carter on Jan. 9 by closing their markets. The NYSE said Monday that the NYSE, NYSE American Equities, NYSE American Options, NYSE Arca Equities, NYSE Arca Options, NYSE Chicago and NYSE National will not operate on Jan. 9, in honor of the former president.All of Nasdaq’s U.S. equities and options markets will similarly close that day, Nasdaq separately said. JIMMY CARTER, 39TH PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, DEAD AT 100Carter, who served in the White House from 1977 to 1981, died on Sunday. "My brothers, sisters, and I shared him with the rest of the world through these common beliefs.
