MATTAPOISETT, Mass., March 5, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- All Hands and Hearts (AHAH), a non-profit organization that provides community-inspired, volunteer-powered disaster relief to international communities, is thrilled to announce the appointment of Nate Mook as its new CEO. With an impressive and diverse background in disaster response, storytelling and leading global changemakers, Nate will guide AHAH into its 20th year with impact and innovation.

Nate first met supermodel, philanthropist and AHAH co-founder Petra Nemcova in Haiti following the devastating 2010 earthquake. Over the years, Nate has worked alongside AHAH teams in disaster-stricken areas worldwide, witnessing the organization's powerful recovery model firsthand.

"With a dedication to humanity and a relentless drive to create meaningful change, Nate Mook embodies the spirit of All Hands and Hearts," said Petra Nemcova. "We are excited about his visionary leadership and the opportunity to amplify our transformative impact on a global scale, serving even more children, families and communities in crisis and equipping them with the resilience needed for the future."

As the first CEO of World Central Kitchen (WCK), Nate built the organization with Chef José Andrés to provide hundreds of millions of meals to individuals affected by disasters. Under his leadership, WCK became one of the largest privately funded humanitarian organizations in the world. Nate has also been deeply involved in efforts in Ukraine, serving on the board of Save Ukraine, acting as Special Advisor on Ukraine for the Howard G. Buffett Foundation and co-founding the Hachiko Foundation to support displaced cats and dogs in frontline communities.

In addition to his work in disaster relief, Nate has a background in filmmaking, producing powerful documentaries such as Baltimore Rising, which examined social tensions in the U.S., and We Feed People, an Emmy-nominated film narrating WCK's global impact. He has also led storytelling projects across Somalia, Haiti and beyond, working with organizations like the UN and the Clinton Foundation to elevate humanitarian efforts.

A former tech entrepreneur and TED Talks curator, Nate has a history of innovation and amplifying voices in underserved communities. What drew him to AHAH is its unique commitment to staying long after the initial crisis response — continuing to support communities as they rebuild, even after media attention fades. Unlike many disaster relief organizations that provide urgent aid and then move on, AHAH remains, committing volunteers and resources to full recovery: helping families rebuild their homes, restoring schools and revitalizing infrastructure. He is committed to strengthening AHAH's immediate disaster response model while building on our long-term recovery efforts, continuing to rebuild not just infrastructures, but resilience for generations to come.

"We are so excited to welcome Nate Mook as our new CEO at All Hands and Hearts," said Mike Pehl, Board Chair, AHAH. "Nate's extensive experience in humanitarian response, his successful leadership at World Central Kitchen and his shared vision for long-term community rebuilding make him the perfect fit to lead AHAH into the future. We look forward to this new chapter and are confident that under his leadership, AHAH will continue to expand its impact and bring hope to even more communities in need."

This year marks the 20th anniversary of AHAH, a pivotal moment in its history. As climate disasters grow more frequent and severe, AHAH is committed to finding innovative ways to respond effectively and sustainably, ensuring communities receive the support they need through the long term.

Since its founding, AHAH has mobilized more than 68,300 volunteers to aid in disaster-stricken regions, impacted over 1.4 million individuals, impacted 205,000 destroyed homes and brought over 123,300 students back to safe schools, ensuring that communities are supported through the toughest phases post-disaster.

AHAH proudly maintains its 4-star rating, the highest awarded by Charity Navigator, for the tenth consecutive year. This rating is a testament to its commitment to transparency and efficiency.
