Maurice Hutton Named Director of Track & Field at The St. James
Renowned coach brings championship experience and a track record of athlete development to The St. James Performance Academy
SPRINGFIELD, Va., Feb. 28, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The St. James Performance Academy is proud to announce Maurice Hutton as its new Director of Track & Field, leading the Academy's competitive running program. With a proven history of fostering athletic excellence and guiding athletes to collegiate success, Hutton will shape the future of the Academy's track and field program.
Hutton founded MVP Track and Field in 2013, establishing it as a top club in the DC metro area. As head coach at South County High School (Lorton, VA), he led his teams to VHSL State Championships in 2022 and 2023, with runner-up finishes in 2021 and 2024. His athletes have won 12 VHSL individual state titles and 31 individual state championships. Nationally, his coaching has produced 12 USATF National Champions, 13 NSAF Nike National Titles, and 63 NSAF Nike All-Americans.

The St. James Track & Field Program is designed to develop athletes through advanced training, competition exposure, and comprehensive performance support. Key features include:

Hutton's coaching philosophy emphasizes a holistic approach, balancing technical skill development with mental preparation, leadership, and academic success. He holds the USATF Sprints Hurdles Emerging Elite certification and was recognized as the 2023 Nike Coach of the Year. His leadership has helped facilitate over 50 NCAA Division I placements, with athletes now competing at 22 Division I institutions nationwide.
