NEW YORK, March 20, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Katten announced today that Nathaniel Lalone, a partner in the firm's Financial Markets and Funds practice, is a newly elected member of the Futures Industry Association (FIA) Board of Directors. As such, Lalone will further represent the interest of the futures, options and derivatives markets and assist in guiding FIA's mission to support open, transparent and competitive markets and promote high standards of professional conduct globally.

Nathaniel Lalone, a partner in Katten's Financial Markets and Funds practice, has been elected to the Futures Industry Association (FIA) Board of Directors.

"We are beyond pleased that Nate will play a part in key policy discussions as the industry is experiencing significant developments across various sectors," said Lance Zinman, global chair of the Katten Financial Markets and Funds department. "I have no doubt that his keen insight and deep experience will serve him well and have a lasting impact."

FIA is the leading global trade body for futures, options and centrally cleared derivatives markets. To provide a voice for its member firms, FIA regularly publishes white papers, and sends letters and position papers to government agencies, regulatory authorities and politicians on issues of interest to the futures industry. It also convenes working groups dedicated to specific industry or regulatory issues and participates with other trade bodies in broader coalitions to address issues of common concern. Additionally, the organization actively promotes fair trade, works with exchanges, educates consumers, and protects members against fraud.

The board is responsible for FIA's financial planning and budget management, and for ensuring its financial stability and sustainability. The board collaborates with regional advisory boards in Asia and Europe, which provide valuable insights and perspectives from different regions of the world.

"I am honored and could not be more delighted to help guide the ongoing work of this essential organization," said Lalone, who focuses on providing cross-border regulatory and compliance counsel to market infrastructures as well as sell- and buy-side firms active in the cleared derivatives markets.

FIA has more than 350 corporate members, including futures commission merchants, exchanges, clearinghouses, trading firms and commodities specialists from more than 48 countries. The 29-member board comprises people in top posts at some of the world's largest banks and other companies as well as partners at top law firms.

Lalone, who is qualified in both England and New York, was announced as a two-year member of the board during the 2025 International Futures Industry Conference in Boca Raton, Florida, where industry participants who help shape the markets gather annually to connect, share insights and discuss key trends, products and companies that are transforming the business of cleared derivatives.
