Eagle Air Aviation Acquires Helicopter for Charter Flights and Organ Transport
HARRISBURG, Pa., April 7, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Eagle Air Aviation, a Part 135 charter and organ air transportation aviation company, has announced the acquisition of an EC-135 Helicopter. The new helicopter has greatly increased the company's capabilities for charter flights and further expands Eagle Air Aviation's on-demand service, complying with authorizations required to facilitate the transport of organs. The helicopter has begun flight operations based out of the Harrisburg International Airport. This announcement comes on the heels of Eagle Air Aviation's February announcement of its third Cessna Citation CJ2 Jet.
The twin Airbus helicopter was made by "Airbus Helicopters SAS," which is the helicopter manufacturing division of Airbus (formerly Eurocopter). Airbus is the largest helicopter manufacturing company in the aviation industry in terms of revenue and turbine helicopter deliveries, holding about 48% of the worldwide market share.
The new helicopter increases Eagle Air Aviation's abilities for short-to-medium range charter, and easy and fast transportation from an airport directly to a specific location (hospital or office helipad).
The Eagle Air Aviation's EC-135 Helicopter's Specifications include:
- 2 pilots
- Capacity of up to five passengers, or 518 pounds available payload, to max range
- Cruise Speed: 148 mph (129 kn)
- 280-mile range with present configuration
- More than 1,500 EC-135 helicopters are flying, used in 60 countries
- Utilized for medical and/or emergency transportation and charter flight travel
Eagle Air Aviation CEO Tyler Sigel shared, "We've already received a lot of inquiries from both organ transportation entities and air charter brokers. We are very competitively priced for helicopter on-demand charter operations and provide flexible transport options. Our helicopter can get passengers and cargo to public or private helipads much more quickly and efficiently than by ground, especially in areas prone to traffic congestion." Sigel said that the helicopter is a perfect charter aircraft for short to medium distances and that several companies utilize these types of helicopters for aerial utility surveillance.
