Veteran Las Vegas Sports Executive Patrick Lindsey Named Senior Vice President and General Manager of Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Lindsey to lead LVMS following retirement of current LVMS President Chris Powell after the upcoming March 16 Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube NASCAR Cup Series race
LAS VEGAS, March 5, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Long-time Las Vegas sports executive Patrick Lindsey has been named senior vice president and general manager of Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Lindsey, who has an extensive background in sports management and event operations, will be stepping into the role following the retirement of Chris Powell, who has served as the speedway's leader for more than 26 years. Powell will retire after the upcoming March 14-16 Pennzoil 400 NASCAR race weekend.
Lindsey, 44, brings a wealth of experience to his new position, having served as the executive director of the Shriners Children's Open PGA Tour event in Las Vegas since 2015. In this role, he was responsible for the event's operations, growth and community impact, consistently delivering exceptional results while building strong partnerships throughout the region. Prior to his work with Shriners, Lindsey spent nine years with the PGA Tour, where he gained deep professional sports industry knowledge and honed his leadership skills in multiple roles.
"Patrick Lindsey is a tremendous addition to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway team," said Speedway Motorsports President and CEO Marcus Smith. "With his proven track record in event management, strategic leadership and dedication to community engagement, we're confident that he will continue to drive the speedway's success into its next chapter. His experience in the business of sports entertainment will continue to elevate LVMS as a world-class destination for fans and partners alike."
Lindsey's predecessor, Powell, is retiring at the conclusion of an extraordinary tenure at the helm of LVMS. Powell's leadership over the past 26 years helped transform the speedway into one of the premier motorsports venues and tourism destinations in the country, hosting major events like NASCAR and NHRA, the Electric Daisy Carnival music festival, driving experiences and other forms of entertainment.
"Chris's legacy at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is remarkable, and we're grateful for his years of service, vision and dedication to the speedway and the community," Smith said. "As we look toward the future, we're excited about Patrick's leadership and the fresh perspective he'll bring to LVMS."
In his new role, Lindsey will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the speedway, working closely with key stakeholders, enhancing fan experiences and driving the speedway's long-term growth and success.
"I'm truly excited for the opportunity to lead Las Vegas Motor Speedway into the future," Lindsey said. "I have a great deal of respect for what Chris and the team have accomplished here, and I look forward to building on that success, continuing to grow the speedway's reputation and working alongside the talented staff to create memorable experiences for our fans and partners."
Lindsey, a native of Spruce Pine, N.C., is a graduate of UNC Greensboro with an MBA from St. Thomas University in Florida. He and his wife, Kristyn, have two sons, Wesley (age 12) and Caleb (7).
