Monthly Robocall Volume Down 6% From Previous Month

IRVINE, Calif., March 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. consumers received just over 4.4 billion robocalls in February 2025, marking an 6.0% decrease from January 2025, according to YouMail's latest Robocall Index.

US Monthly Robocall Volume

While the overall number of robocalls fell month to month, February averaged 159.0 million robocalls/day and 1,840 robocalls/second, which is a 4.0% increase from January's average of 152.9 million robocalls/day and 1,769 robocalls/second. Additionally, this was an 11.9% increase on a year-over-year basis from February 2024.

"Robocall volume in February is down, but only because the month had fewer days than January," said YouMail CEO Alex Quilici. "It's clear that robocall volumes are no longer trending down when we examine them on a daily basis."

These latest figures are provided by YouMail, a totally free app to protect consumers from unwanted or dangerous calls, texts, and voicemails. The figures are determined by extrapolating from the robocall traffic attempting to get through to YouMail's millions of active users.

February 2025's Most Annoying Robocalling Campaign

The most problematic robocall campaign in February was around pre-approved personal loans, like calls from this number. These were very similar to January's most annoying robocall campaign, varying only slightly in terms of who is calling, where they claim to be from, and the amount of the consolidation loan.

Hi, this is Jennifer. I'm an underwriter with the Debt Solutions team. According to my records, you pre-qualify for a consolidation loan of up to $82,000. Payments on these loans are flexible and can be as low as $430 a month. These offers are time-sensitive, so please give us a call back at (877) 200-4023. Have a great day.

This robocall campaign is problematic because of a high volume of calls, appearing to exceed one hundred million in February, originating from hundreds of thousands of different numbers. The calls do not clearly identify the company, only referring to the "debt solutions team". Further, based on consumer feedback, the calls appear to target people who never contacted the company or requested a call. Although the campaign includes a toll-free callback number, it does not highlight that the number can be used to opt out. Additionally, when calling back, the source of the calls appears to require significant additional information before they can provide the loan, suggesting a risk of identity theft.
