This collaboration combines the companies' respective expertise in energy project development and technology design to offer innovative and custom solutions to supply growing energy demand.

NOVI, Mich., Feb. 12, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- nVision Energy, LLC, an affiliate of utility-scale energy project developer, NOVI Energy, and TerraPower, LLC, a trailblazer in nuclear innovation, unveiled a unique cooperative agreement that will allow these teams to pave the way for a scalable and repeatable deployment model for TerraPower's Natrium® reactor and energy storage system1 plants across the United States. This framework will combine nVision Energy's proven expertise in energy project development and TerraPower's cutting-edge Natrium technology to meet energy demand with advanced nuclear power and built-in grid-scale energy storage.

The nVision Energy team has decades of experience developing large energy projects around the world with utilities, industrials, and in recent times, hyperscalers. nVision will use the unique Natrium technology to provide custom solutions that work for the end user and local communities. TerraPower broke ground on the non-nuclear portions of America's first advanced nuclear project in 2024, in Kemmerer, Wyoming; and the Natrium reactor is the only advanced nuclear technology with a construction permit application for a commercial reactor pending with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The completeness of the Natrium design gives nVision and TerraPower the ability to understand cost, design, and supply chain needs for bringing an advanced nuclear plant to market.

"For the past two years, the nVision team has been dedicated to combining a unique set of skills and resources to bring new Small Modular Reactor (SMR) / Advanced Reactor (AR) plants to fruition," said nVision Energy's President and CEO, Anand Gangadharan. "Our developer-led approach, powered by TerraPower's advanced Natrium reactor technology, and structured financing, is built on a well-considered plan that manages implementation risks. This agreement will be a key player in increasing baseload carbon-free electric capacity and strengthening the American power grid."

"The energy industry is changing rapidly, and new technologies must be commercialized and deployed to keep up with both growing energy demand and an electric grid that will function completely different in the coming decades," said Chris Levesque, TerraPower President and CEO. "The Natrium technology is the only solution that offers baseload and flexible energy production with integrated energy storage, and I look forward to exploring innovative deployment strategies with nVision Energy and their experienced team."

With a diverse range of expertise drawn directly from the nuclear industry, the nVision team specializes in complex project management and brings a variety of capabilities in the areas of risk management, design and engineering, licensing, structuring, financing, construction management, operations, and asset management. This team has an unparalleled and unique combination of energy project development experience with a team that has had direct hands-on civil and US navy nuclear experience. nVision believes in and focuses on partnering relationships to deliver quality focused, timely, and cost-effective solutions with safety as a primary priority.  This enables nVision to deliver extraordinary value to its customers and communities, ensuring the best possible projects are brought to life with unmatched efficiency and excellence.

The Natrium technology is the first mover in the U.S. advanced nuclear industry and features a 345 MW sodium-cooled fast reactor with a patented molten salt-based energy storage system. The storage technology can boost the system's output to 500 MW of power when needed and can be customized to match specific site needs. The energy storage system is designed to keep base output steady, ensuring constant reliability, and can quickly ramp up when demand peaks — it is the only advanced reactor design with this unique feature, and is well suited to meet the power demands of utilities, industrial consumers, and data centers.

Through recent collaborations and this new agreement, nVision and TerraPower aim to drive further advancements in the energy industry.
