MARIA LONG PROMOTED TO RESILIENCE CHIEF UNDERWRITING OFFICER
Long Brings Deep Experience in Cyber to Accelerate Resilience's Growth
NEW YORK, April 15, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Resilience, the leading cyber risk company, announced today the appointment of Maria Long as Chief Underwriting Officer. In this role, Long will direct and oversee all aspects of the underwriting function for Resilience's growing portfolio, reporting directly to George Kotsiopoulos, president of insurance.
"Maria's track record and experience in cyber risk are difficult to match. She has quickly become an invaluable asset to our organization, earning strong trust from our capacity partners, brokers, and underwriting team—making her the clear choice for Chief Underwriting Officer," said Kotsiopoulos. "Her impressive track record in establishing effective cyber risk programs, combined with her excellent risk selection judgment, gives us great confidence she'll maintain our industry-leading growth and performance."
Long brings a wealth of experience to her new role at Resilience. With nearly 10 years dedicated specifically to cyber insurance within her 17-year career in the industry, she has developed deep expertise in both cyber risk management and Cyber and Tech E&O underwriting. This combined experience has cultivated her passion for comprehensive, integrated solutions.
Before joining Resilience, Long held leadership positions in cyber underwriting and risk management for Munich Re Specialty, where she was responsible for building, launching, and leading their cyber risk management program. She also supported strategic initiatives for application across their Cyber and Tech E&O book of business, supporting growth into new industry verticals. Previously, Long spent over eight years at Allied World, where she led and evolved an industry-leading cyber risk management platform to mitigate risk and attract cyber insureds. She holds a master's degree from Purdue University in communications and leadership.
Long was drawn to Resilience precisely because of the organization's strong foundation, clear vision, and deep bench strength needed to implement a truly holistic approach to cyber risk management.
"At Resilience, we've developed a fundamentally different approach to cyber underwriting," said Long. "We combine our team's deep collective underwriting expertise with data-driven risk assessment to evaluate each client's unique risk profile. Rather than simply transferring risk, we actively partner with clients to shape and improve their risk posture through our integrated risk management solutions. This collaborative approach not only leads to better underwriting outcomes but also helps our clients build genuine cyber resilience in an increasingly complex threat landscape."
Long's appointment comes at a time of significant growth for Resilience as the company continues to expand its enterprise client base and strengthen its position as an innovator in the cyber risk management sector. Her leadership is expected to drive forward the company's commitment to delivering integrated risk solutions tailored to each client's unique technological environment.
