From Near-Miss to Success: Praxis Bridge Advances Candidate Development and ETS's Vision for Education
PRINCETON, N.J., Feb. 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- ETS, a global education and talent solutions organization, announced today the launch of Praxis Bridge, which provides an alternate option for teacher candidates who still need to pass their Praxis test after one or more attempts.
Praxis Bridge offers a flexible path to certification while ensuring essential content knowledge for classroom success by delivering a personalized, data-driven solution that helps near-miss candidates close the gap between potential and performance.
"At ETS, we are dedicated to addressing the critical challenges facing education, including the teacher pipeline," said Paul Gollash, Senior Vice President of K-16 at ETS. "Praxis Bridge is an innovative, supportive solution that is one example of resources we're embedding into our program to support getting more teachers into the classroom without lowering standards."
During the first two months of the pilot program, conducted with partners in Connecticut, Kansas, and West Virginia, a survey of participants revealed that the Praxis Bridge solution significantly enhanced content mastery and reduced test anxiety. Participants highlighted several benefits, including the ability to focus on specific knowledge gaps, the flexibility of a self-paced format, and the value of detailed feedback. As one Connecticut test taker shared, "This program helped narrow down the things I struggled with previously on the exam. I definitely prefer this over a retake because it addresses individual needs."
"Praxis Bridge is a vital tool in addressing West Virginia's critical teacher shortage by providing aspiring educators with the support and flexibility they need to succeed," said Robert Hagerman, Ed.D., Director, Office of Certification, West Virginia Department of Education. "By helping more candidates meet certification requirements, we are ensuring that every student in our state has access to a qualified, effective teacher—something that is essential for their success and the future of our communities."
Praxis Bridge is currently available for Elementary Education in the following subjects: English Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science for test takers that scored within 1 SEM (standard error of measurement) of their state's passing score. It provides eligible test takers with a personalized learning journey tailored to their specific content knowledge needs. Each 45-minute module allows test-takers to learn at their own pace, focusing on the exact areas where they need the most support.
