InventHelp Inventor Develops Smart Catheter Sponge (NJR-243)
PITTSBURGH, April 23, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- "I'm a nurse and I care for my grandma. I have to change her chronic catheter and thought there could be a better way to secure a foley catheter balloon to catch leaks and prevent infections," said an inventor, from Bayville, N.J., "so I invented the SMART CATHETER SPONGE. My design would leave minimal room for user error, and it would reduce the risk of leakage, odors, and UTI infections."
The patent-pending invention provides an improved way to reduce the incidence of urinary infections associated with employing Foley catheters. In doing so, it would catch leakage associated with movement. It also would reduce the incidence of odors associated with urine. The invention features an effective design that is easy to position and use so it is ideal for post-operative patients, the elderly, and individuals who suffer with incontinence. Additionally, a prototype model and technical drawings are available upon request.
The original design was submitted to the New Jersey sales office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
