We've interviewed broadband, technology, and digital inclusion experts from all over the world on the podcast.

The podcast shares its moniker with its owner Connected Nation (CN). The national nonprofit's mission is to expand the access, adoption, and use of broadband (high-speed internet) to all people.

"Our idea was to leverage a media that we had yet to explore so we could reach more people with our message to expand connectivity to all people," said Jessica Denson, Communications Director, Connected Nation (CN), and podcast producer and host. "From the beginning, we've welcomed broadband, technology, and digital inclusion experts from all over the world onto the podcast. Those guests have ranged from a second grade teacher providing tips help parents with remote education in the midst of the pandemic to Internet Service Providers to Governor Jeb Bush who wrote an op-ed on the importance of digital inclusion."

In addition, the podcast explores new research and topics related to the broadband space such as telework, telehealth, remote learning, connectivity tips, and other subject matter.

The podcast won a national Award of Excellence in 2024 from the Communicators Awards for best podcast series – technology category. It also won two Awards of Distinction (Silver) from the same organization and in the same category in 2023 and 2022.

"We're always looking for ways to improve our approach to how we produce the podcast," said Grant Ahlbrand, social media specialist, CN, and podcast producer. "Over the years, that's included expanding accessibility to more people by adding transcripts to everything we do. Plus, we now provide promotional materials for our guests so they can share their episodes with others. We are now in the process of exploring adding video episodes to the podcast in the coming months."

Since its launch in 2020, the team has produced 173 episodes over five years (at this writing) including the five-year-anniversary podcast, which includes exploring some of the team's favorite episodes.

"It can be hard to pick because we have so many great guests who join us on the podcast," said Lily McCoy, Senior Communications Specialist, CN, and podcast producer. "But the ones that really stick with me are those guests who might lead companies as a CEO or a major federal agency like the Federal Communications Commission – yet they still open up to Jessica about who they are and why 'all things broadband' really matter to them. Those are the ones I always come back to when someone asks me my favorites."

The Connected Nation podcast is on all major podcast platforms including Apple, Spotify, and Pandora. However, you can also find all episodes by heading to this Buzzsprout webpage.

We are always looking for new guests and topic ideas. If you have someone or a topic you think we should consider, please write us at info@connectednation.org.
