Lathrop GPM Partner Matthew A. Jacober Named Board President of the Midwest Innocence Project
ST. LOUIS, Feb. 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Lathrop GPM is pleased to announce that Partner Matthew A. Jacober has been named President of the Board of Directors for the Midwest Innocence Project (MIP), an organization dedicated to advocacy on behalf of wrongfully convicted people. Jacober and the firm have partnered with MIP on numerous cases.
"I am honored to serve the Midwest Innocence Project as Board President," said Jacober. "This organization does vital work for those whose lives have been upended by wrongful convictions, helping exonerated people find their way post-release and advocating for improvements to the justice system. MIP is a wonderful partner, and I look forward to providing them guidance and support."
MIP's mission is to educate, advocate for, and obtain and support the exoneration and release of wrongfully convicted people in Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. It is an independent innocence organization that is part of the National Innocence Network. MIP partners with law firms, law schools, and student volunteers to provide the best possible representation at no cost to innocent people in the Midwest region.
Jacober previously worked with MIP to secure Lamar Johnson's exoneration nearly 30 years after he was wrongfully sentenced to life in prison for a crime he did not commit. As a dedicated litigator and partner in the firm's Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice Group, he is also a Missouri state court-approved mediator and a strong advocate for the wrongfully convicted. Committed to justice, he continues to provide pro bono representation to those unjustly imprisoned. In addition, he serves as Chair of the Pro Bono Committee at Lathrop GPM.
